Marjanne van Vliet works for a Dutch humanitarian aid organization in Syria—a country devastated by war, economically crippled by sanctions, half of its population has fled, and largely hidden from the world’s view as it is closed off to journalists. Then, in February 2023, an earthquake struck the border area between Syria and Turkey. Filmmaker Lieuwe Siebe de Jong closely follows Marjanne in the affected city of Aleppo. Amid the aftershocks of the earthquake, she and her team face the challenge of providing aid to the residents of Aleppo. This cinematic documentary offers a unique behind-the-scenes look at the dilemmas of aid work in an almost hopeless context.
